Plan for the best. Write about the worst.
Falling Piano Studios is an independent studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota, building stories about a world that looks like ours and behaves like Murphy wrote the rulebook.
Where the name comes from
The name is a promise about the kind of stories we tell.
A falling piano is the classic image of comic disaster: something huge and entirely avoidable arrives at the worst possible moment, with no warning. It is the perfect picture of a world running on Murphy’s law.
We are less interested in the crash than in what comes after: how people react, who they blame, and how quickly they claim they saw it coming.
How we work
Independent means no committee, no notes from a boardroom, and nobody to blame but us. We make books, games, and videos, and we let each format do what it does best.
Everything is anthology-driven. Each story stands on its own, with a new cast and a new disaster, and together they build one universe: The Falling Universe.
Our attitude is witty, our humor is dark, and our schedule is optimistic. We are not sure which of those is the joke.
Where we are
Minneapolis, Minnesota: a city where the winters are long, the potholes are permanent, and everyone is too polite to mention either.
It is a good place to make art about things going wrong. Nobody here is surprised when the weather has other plans.
